TECHNOLOGY SERVICES FOR THE MBA STUDENTS AT NIDA

Computer and other technology services for the English MBA students are abundant and leading edge. The Technology Center on the 5th floor of Anekprasong has three service sections. The first, the NIDA Network and Technical Section manages the Network system, the development of the information system and maintains as well as repairs microcomputers for all departments at NIDA.The second, the NIDA Web Site Management Section designs as well as improves general-level Web Site structure, produces new Web pages, and updates data in existing Web pages.
The third, the Computer Service and Laboratory Section consults on software installation service and manages the computer laboratories. The Technology Center maintains five computer laboratories, three in the Anekprasong Building, all of which may be used by any of NIDA's students.
Most convenient for the English MBA students is the MBA computer lab on the 8th floor of Anekprasong which is exclusive for MBA students to use. The lab has 15 microcomputers that MBA students can use to check e-mail, do research on the Internet, write and edit papers and other tasks that MBA students may need computers for.
The lab is under the direction of Mr. Chainarong Poomtard who can answer most questions you can think of and solve most problems you may find yourself trying to work out. This lab also designs web pages and assists in producing other related marketing media for the MBA Program.
In addition, Mr. Chainarong is proficient in HTML, Macromedia Apps., FrontPage, Photoshop, as well as in MS Office, and is also a systems hardware technician.
It is not unusual to be on the 8th floor on any day and hear a staff member, a faculty member, or a student asking “Where is Chainarong? I need him right now!” The MBA Computer Lab opens at 10 AM and closes at about 6:30 PM. In addition, it is usually open on the weekends as well.
MBA students learn in new, modern, and spacious classrooms that are equipped with modern multimedia electronic equipment. MBA students also have special study areas that are reserved for their exclusive use. These reserved study areas are also hotspots, i.e. Wi-Fi enabled. In addition, NIDA offers a free Wi-Fi service* to MBA students. There are also several commercial vendors offering Wi-Fi service on campus.

Regular English MBA Program (ENGLISH MBA)

Name of Degree
Full name : Master of Business Administration (English Program)
Abbreviated name : M.B.A. (English Program)
Overview
The National Institute of Development Administration is a true graduate institution. It offers only graduate programs with concentrations in economic development. Because the institute focuses only on graduate programs professors are able to focus all of their abilities at the graduate level. There are less distractions to professors as they do not teach in time consuming undergraduate level courses. This means that NIDA MBA graduate students receive a full transfer of knowledge at the highest possible level. Over 90% of NIDA's MBA faculty members that instruct in the MBA program in English have earned their Ph.D.s, a majority of them from highly regarded universities abroad. Many of them have spent a significant portion of their careers teaching at and doing research for universities located in N. America and Europe. Many of the professors at the GSBA teach in more than one of five different MBA programs at the NIDA GSBA. This allows them to interact with a broad range of graduate students, from seasoned executives and managers to less experienced students in the English and Thai MBA Programs. All of these students have vastly different perspectives on business issues. Seasoned professionals have vision while younger students, unconstrained by company culture nuances, have creativity as well as unbounded determination. The knowledge obtained from the GSBA network as well as from the student executives is used to design MBA program curriculum which is then delivered to all graduate students. The program specializes in bringing segments of the Asian business environment directly into the controlled environment of the classroom to give the student a real-life learning experience. Whereas, advanced level students get to go out to the field for real exposure. NIDA’s English MBA Program was chosen one of the top 6 MBA’s in ASEAN by Asia Inc., in 2004, 2003, and one of the best 25 Asian MBA’s by Asia Inc., in 2002. We continue to strive for excellence to be one of the top English MBA programs in Asia. The English MBA Program is a full-time (weekday, daytime) MBA Program that is conducted entirely in English. This is the main difference between the English MBA Program and the Regular Thai Program, the latter of which is conducted in both Thai and English. For more specific information

ABOUT NIDA MBAEstablished in 1967, the Graduate School of Business Administration (GSBA or NIDA MBA) has put more MBA professionals into professional positions at global companies in Thailand and in the Thai public sector than any other MBA program in Thailand.Since 1967, over 6200 MBA alumni professionals have received their training from the NIDA GSBA. In 2004, over 500 MBA graduate students received their diplomas. In 2005, there were 160 students in the English MBA Program. On average, 85% of the English MBA Program students in their final semester are hired before graduating. From these statistics, one thing is clear, with so many MBA Programs out there NIDA GSBA has received the vote of confidence, from graduate students that want to pursue their MBA degree in Thailand, for providing the best and most valuable MBA education in Thailand.

HOW IS EXCELLENCE ACHIEVED AT NIDA ?The National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) is a graduate only institution that specializes in graduate programs that focus on economic development. Because NIDA is a graduate only institution professors can focus all of their intellect at the graduate level. Professors are not distracted by having to cover elementary business principles. Which means that NIDA MBA students receive a full transfer of knowledge at the highest possible level.Over 90% of NIDA's MBA faculty members that instruct in the MBA program in English have earned their Ph.D.s, a majority of them from highly regarded universities abroad. Many of them have spent a significant portion of their career teaching at and doing research for universities located in N. America and Europe.Faculty members at GSBA teach in more than one of seven different NIDA MBA programs. This allows them to interact with a broad range of graduate students, from seasoned executives and managers to less seasoned but energetic students in the English and Thai MBA Programs. These students from the seven graduate business programs have vastly different perspectives on business issues and thus strategies. Seasoned professionals have vision while younger students, unconstrained by company culture nuances and other constraints, have creativity as well as unbounded determination to approach business issues from different perspectives that might have been overlooked by management. This is where the English MBA students have exceeded in creating innovative solutions for partner companies.

By teaching in several MBA programs, NIDA GSBA professors absorb the information and are able to digest and use it to optimize their course curriculum to fit business dynamics in Asia. This gives NIDA MBA students the in-depth knowledge that they can use, in addition to the core MBA business knowledge obtained from textbooks and theory, to maximize their strategic cognitive ability. You could call this, "Executive Inspired Curriculum".In addition, the superior teaching and research/consulting ability of faculty members at the GSBA have been recognized by universities abroad. Harvard University is one of these prominent institutions. Their renowned Business School chose NIDA as the first institute in Thailand to offer Professor Michael E. Porter’s Microeconomics of Competitiveness (MOC) course.Faculty members also bring in numerous leaders from global corporations and from the government to give lectures at NIDA, thus providing students with an information channel to the real-world.
WHAT DO WE OFFER GRADUATE STUDENTS?At NIDA, basic and core courses lay the foundation for Asian managers of the future. Major and cross-functional courses build on this foundation. Upper level research and seminar courses require students to go into business offices and/or universities to gather the information and data they will need to conduct their team research projects and presentations. During team evaluations, the collection of primary data and information by students is more highly regarded by faculty members than other types of data. This is where members of NIDA's extensive Alumni Network can be used to aid students' needs in obtaining concise primary information and data. This also puts students in touch with their future potential employers.
Selected Topics in Business Administration and Directed Studies provide qualified second year students with the option to expand their advanced level coursework. Corporate consulting and business projects are considered advanced level coursework. In addition, NIDA English MBA Program offers you one of the best English MBA programs currently available in Thailand and ASEAN; it was named as one of the top 6 MBA’s in ASEAN by Asia Inc., for 2 consecutive years, 2003 and 2004.

INTERNATIONAL STUDY OPPORTUNITIESQualified English MBA students can participate in exchange programs with the universities in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, and N. America depending on their qualifications, scheduling, and program availability. Students can think of the exchange program learning experience as a crash course in international intercultural and interpersonal relations on top of rigorous MBA course work. The institutions, that participate in the exchange program with NIDA were selected for their outstanding quality of education and ability to take on an exchange program. Thus, the NIDA MBA student is also able to compare different teaching and learning styles with those back home in Thailand.
The returning exchange students also provide NIDA's faculty with feedback obtained from their international learning experience. Conversely, partner university MBA students also benefit by experiencing, up-front, the different and subtle cultural aspects of thinking and interaction of NIDA's students. These cultural differences have an influence on the business rationales of different cultures. And in this era of personal selling, understanding cultural nuances is crucial in doing business, especially in Marketing and HRM.
And while on exchange, don't forget that you'll have lots of time for other "off campus" activities as well ! After all you'll be there anywhere from 3-5 months!
